I have more Qualis Gems than I know what to do with. With the Empire reeling, Paetryn has turned his sights on Janos, but soon he will need to return to the west, since for some inexplicable reason the Empire owns Longbeard Lodge, which Raventstern had taken from Fierdsvain during the Great Viking Collapse, and it's been sticking out like a sore thumb ever since the founding of the Kingdom of Elvenshae. They held it only briefly, however, as Paetryn and his lords returned to the front, smashing Savador, Rela Keep, and Ethos. Although they were quickly rounded up and placed into holding cells, the Baccus Empire used the opportunity to reclaim Savador Castle.

While the host of Paetryn was besieging Rela Keep, however, several Baccus lords snuck past the front lines and began burning and looting. Things have progressed quickly, for the most part, with Seven Cross Keep as the next holding to fall to the Kingdom of Elvenshae. The war later ended inconclusively, and Savador remained in Imperial hands. Because he refused to name a lord of the castle from among his own lords and because Paetryn, as a mercenary, could not hold land, Khadan Bahadur Khan then lost the undermanned castle back to the Empire. This is ironic, because back when there was a country called the D'Shar Principalities, they, too, began a war against the Baccus Empire, and a young mercenary captain by the name of Paetryn took it. Striking quickly, the 2,000-soldier-strong Army of Elvenshae has struck into Baccus territory, beginning with the capture of Savador Castle. I've just hit the 20kish loss per week mark though partially due to four of my enterprises being sequestered so I may have to rebalance a few things or let some mercenary units go. When a ransom broker visits a town other lords are dumping their prisoners in it can be quite a payout. Mostly I just run at a loss and make up for it with trading and prisoner sales. 150ish is the highest I usually run around with and I can probably get that lower though not as much right now when I want to train up around 30 or 40 noble troops I rescued. I also try to run with a pretty lean crew if I'm not actively attacking an army or holding. I seem to recall pure numbers being a big part of the AI evaluation of whether to attack or not. I leave a lot of my garrison fodder as low level troops instead of upgrading them. The MB Tweak to garrison multiplier doesn't seem to be working in my game, and I'm 20k underwater each week with 4 cities and a handful of villages (and one castle) to my name, all of which have garrisons in the 3-400 range.
